Teacher training

The RJ Yoga Teacher Training course is made up of four important steps.

Step One: Our First Encounter

At this very important step we all meet together over three days. You will be taught by one of the founders of R J Yoga, Richard Furgerson, who will introduce you to the RJ Yoga methods, ideas and philosophy.

A typical teacher training course will include a class of between 3 to 4 students. The classes will run for approximately eight hours per day and are highly interactive and very supportative.

As well as learning specifics about yoga poses and positions for children, we will discuss sample lesson plans; adaptation of classes for special needs children and provides advice about setting up your own business-teaching children's yoga.

Step Two: The Journey Begins

Your initial weekend of teacher training is then followed by a period of practical at home study. During this step of your training you will be required to run twelve children's yoga classes. To support you in this we will provide twelve class assignments to help you develop a more detailed lesson plan. We will also be available to contact should you have any questions or concerns you would like to discuss.

At the end of each class you are also required to submit to us a completed detailed lesson plan and evaluation form summarising your feedback and thoughts on the class you have just taught.

This second step is run entirely at your own pace and you decide when you are ready to schedule the twelve classes. Our only requirement is that you complete the twelve classes within twelve months of commencing the course.

Step Three: Fully Fledged

Upon successful completion of the twelve children's yoga teaching classes and submission of the corresponding twelve lesson plans and evaluation forms you will receive your RJ Yoga Teacher Training Certificate.

You will then be a fully certified teacher of children's yoga and graduate of what we believe to be the finest teacher training programme of children's yoga in the UK.

Step Four: Growing With RJ

A cornerstone of the RJ Yoga philosophy is to provide a nurturing and supportative environment. This philosophy naturally runs through our teaching training programme too. After you have graduated we will still be available for you to discuss any issues, problems, concerns and triumphs that you may encounter as you embrace the wonderful world of children's yoga.

It is important to us for all our graduates to understand that having undertaken the RJ Yoga Teaching Training Programme you become members of a close and invaluable network of RJ children's yoga teachers.

Please contact us if you have an interest in teacher training.
